Common Questions
FAQ
Short answers to the main things players ask once they start checking in gotchis, assigning activities, and reading the weekly leaderboard.
Getting Started
How do I start playing?
Connect your wallet, select the gotchi you want to represent you for the current epoch, then enter the resort and assign the requested activity.
Do I need to own the gotchi in the connected wallet?
Yes. The protected gameplay actions are tied to the wallet context and active session for the owner selecting and managing the checked-in gotchi.
Sessions and Signing
Why am I asked to sign a message?
Signing establishes or refreshes your SIWE-backed session. The normal flow should only ask again when the session is missing, expired, or tied to a different wallet.
Should I have to sign every time I click around?
No. Exploration with other gotchis should not require a new signature. Protected actions are initial checked-in gotchi selection and assigning an activity to the checked-in gotchi.
Gameplay Rules
Why can’t I switch to another gotchi?
The game applies an epoch lock. Once a gotchi is your active competitor for the current epoch, you generally cannot switch to a different one until the next epoch unless the rules explicitly allow it.
Why is no activity being requested?
If the epoch is too close to ending, the cutoff rule prevents new activity starts. The resort will stay in a waiting state instead of requesting another activity.
Can I still browse the resort with another gotchi?
Yes. You can explore with other gotchis while a different one remains the active checked-in competitor, as long as you are not trying to replace the checked-in gotchi for that epoch.
Leaderboard
How is the leaderboard ranked?
By average basedness over the epoch. Completed activities and pet efficiency are used as tie-breakers.
Why am I on the leaderboard but not prize eligible?
Visibility and prize eligibility are separate. A checked-in gotchi can appear on the leaderboard even with zero or one completed activity, but prize eligibility requires at least 2 completed activities in the epoch.
Why would an archived week differ from what I saw live?
Archived epochs are rebuilt from historical check-ins and basedness samples, so the closed leaderboard reflects historical participation rather than only whatever live state rows happened to remain later.
Petting Monitor
What does pet efficiency do?
It affects how fast basedness decays while your gotchi is idle. Better petting efficiency means slower decay and helps preserve a stronger average basedness.
Why should I care about petting if the leaderboard is based on average basedness?
Because petting efficiency changes the decay rate. Better upkeep keeps your basedness from falling as quickly between activities, which directly improves the average.
